What I'm Reading the Week of April 6th -- Darius the Great Is Not Okay

This week I'm reading Darius the Great Is Not Okay by Adib Khorram.  It's pretty different from what I normally read, but I like it.  It's about a high school boy named Darius whose mom is from Iran, but he's been living in the United States his whole life.  He doesn't really fit in at school, and he struggles with depression and feeling accepted by his dad as well.

His family travels to Iran to visit his dying grandfather, and while he's there he learns about friendship, family, and himself.  This book has a lot of depth to it and would probably be good for people who like realistic fiction with drama.  Also it deals with issues of acceptance, mental health, and feeling pulled between 2 cultures. It took me a couple of chapters to get into it, but now I'm really enjoying it.  Please be aware that this is probably a "red dot" book because of language.

What are you reading these days?  Do you have any books you would recommend to me or others?  I miss you all!

What I'm Reading -- Week of April 1st

Hi all!

I'm excited to share what I'm reading with you each week.  Please comment and tell me and each other about what you're reading.

Right now I'm reading The Lady Rogue by Jenn Bennett.  It's a YA novel that's historical fiction, mystery, and fantasy.  It's about a teen in the early 1900's whose adventure-seeking father disappears while searching for a cursed ring that belonged to Vlad the Impaler (Dracula).

It's pretty good so far.  I think people who like mystery or adventure would like this book.
